The 6th Epoch- The Anthropocene?

Anthropocene is a new era- The Human Powered, Fossil Fuel Driven, New Era. This informal term for The Age of Human was coined by Paul Crutzen- an Atmospheric Chemist- in the year 2000. 'It mark the evidence and extent of human activities that have significant  global impact on the Earth's ecosystem' as the Wikipedia says, and it's the euphemism of 'The Age when Human is Starting the 6Th Mass Extinction'.

There is a debate, about when was this era started. Some say that it started during the industrial revolution in The Great Britain, other say that it started when the Agriculture Revolution happen in the Fertile Crescent of India, West Asia, and Egypt. But one thing for sure- we were, are, and possibly will place an irreparable footprint in our beloved homeland.

There are 5 mass extinction known to man, or 'The Big Five' in its more popular name. Bad news is, the 6th is happening right now. And its not an asteroid, volcano, tectonic shift, extreme weather, or anything usual, it is caused, by a species named Homo Sapiens.

In the past our use of weapon have driven a lot of species, such as Mammoth and Dodo, to extinction, but nowadays, our influence are more indirect.

Our starvation of energy since the Industrial Revolution have affect us, causing us to exploit the earth to the limit. And the fact that our population have quadrupled since then isn't helping anything either. We're pumping more CO2, nitrogen, and more seemingly harmless pollution, than all of the species combined.

So now its our choice, to place this irreparable footprint, or to approach more sustainable ways (see my next post; hydrogen, future of the cars?). (Brahma)
