The Most Influential Car of The Century?

Yes, it maybe the car that will save the world.

No, not because its funky speedometer.

It looks like a car, and it's an ordinary car except for one thing; it's powered by hydrogen. Honda Clarity FCX- as Honda named this revolutionary car.

This days people are looking for an alternative source for fossil fuel, because clearly we will be running out of fossil in the next 5-20 decade.

Why start now, a lot of people ask, why not 2 or more years before?

There is one problem considering that, the fact that the total world demand for energy per year is about 400 quadrillion BTUs, 1 BTUs is about the same as a match.

To give you a figure, here is what that mean: 400,000,000,000,000,000 BTUs.

And 88% of those are made by burning both fossil fuel, coal, and natural gas. That is about: 352,8 quadrillion BTUs.

Once again, 352,800,000,000,000,000 BTUs.

The longer time we delay, the less time we have, the rougher will the transition be.

So not a bad idea to change now, right?

Back to cars. Cars, one of the main consumer of nonrenewable resources we're addicted to use. Throughout the years (mainly this decade) a lot of inventor come with ingenious alternative. Solar panel, for example will never run out of fuel- at least for the next 5 billion years and the sky is clear. But there is one problem.

They're not practical.

You don't want to use solar panel in the arctic, not in the desert as well, and not where you get rain all year. What is the use of battery if it last for several kilometer and you have to charge it all night?

Hydrogen, in the other hand is different.

We fill it up in the filling station, it's the most abundant element in the known universe, the only emission is water (yes, H2O), and less likely to have any breaking parts- the only moving part is the engine. Technically brilliant!

Some says its hard to 'mine' Hydrogen, because it's the most abundant element on the known universe, it always stick to other elements as well. But is it harder than drilling oil 4,000 km under the surface?

Honda spot this opportunity, and then it launch this car, but only to the Southern California region, to test the public interest. And plans 300 car over the next 2 year.

Turns out the best way to save the world is to be practical.
